ABOUT US

The Department of Invisible Labor is an awareness campaign for unseen work. To those who know what it is (and perform it), we are a wink of solidarity. To those who don't know, we're a conversation starter.

The Department of Invisible Labor began as a way to bring visibility to the relentless yet essential tasks of domestic work and mental load—primarily for women, femmes, and mothers—but it is for anyone and everyone whose energy is spent on work that helps others live, yet often goes unacknowledged.

Visibility makes a difference in how it feels to do this work, whether you love it, resent it, or both. The Department of Invisible Labor helps bring it into view.
